I don’t know if the words creepy and lovely have ever been combined to describe anything, but it is eerily safe to say that Passenger’s Simple Song is creepily-lovely. I love Passenger to bits, but I wasn’t aware he had a new album out until I checked out his YouTube channel today. I have played simple song a couple of times already and I can tell you the song as actually simple, beautiful and awesome all at once. The video on the other hand is. . .

I am not too sure how to describe how I felt watching it at first, but let’s just say it wasn’t going down well with me at first. If I was eating while watching it, I might either have thrown up halfway through seeing it or never finished it. (The food or/and the video.) Watching the child (stick) figure going up the mountain and getting the lady down and eventually both families going up the mountain together mad the stick-figures more human and humane than anything else could have.

Whose idea was it to make this video anyways? They deserve something extra special. This isn’t a cartoon, as that will make them a little more “relatable” Neither are they anime or puppets. Yet at the end of it all, you can’t help loving them all.

Also, if you are seeing this for this first time like I was a couple of hours before writing this, don’t get turned off at what you see at the beginning. I can assure you, the end is going to be totally worth it.

For anyone who is a fan of simplicity, Simple Song is the song for you. And for those who have lost a loved one, please, stay strong.
