You Are Fallible (Sincerely Yours)
Yes, you are smart, and yes, you are fallible. You know a lot, but you don’t know it all. Your desire should constantly be to know more.
Irrespective of your desire for more knowledge and how much you already know, sometimes, you will be wrong.
The great ones are not those who are never wrong. Instead, they are those who are always ready to accept the superior argument.
They listen to hear, not to respond. As others talk, you process what they are saying to find the essence, not to counter them, but to understand them.
Those who profess to be infallible are the ones you should fear the most. In a bid to prove how right they are, they will go to any length. They don’t care whose ox is gored.
You are not one of such. Welcome criticism and correction alike.
Even when it is coming from a hater, reason with them. A hater is not necessarily a liar.
And when it is coming from a cynic, listen twice. Whatever their fear or doubt may be, it is probably valid. Others may share the same view, but are scared, reluctant, or don’t care enough to speak up.
You are fallible, you are not gullible. Changing your mind is permitted, you are not rigid. You can go back on your word, you are not God.
Most importantly, never allow your pride to prevent you from accepting correction. Being fallible is part of being human.
At the end of it all, you are human.
