WEEKLY SPECIAL WORD FOR THE WEEK

Stock Taking (Word For The Week)

Stock Taking means to go through one’s wares, finding out what you have a surplus of, enough of and what is lacking.
Stock taking is a practice adopted by traders to ensure they are never caught unaware by a demand for any item. Producers of goods also do the same for their raw materials. As stock taking will help them restock on raw materials before they are exhausted and halt production.
As we get into the ’ember months, which marks the beginning of the end of the year, it is time for you to begin stock taking of your life.
Take time to look at every aspect of your life. What have you done this year? What is left to be done this year? What have you gained so far? What have you lost?
What attitude do you need to change? What habit do you need to drop and which do you need to pick up?
What do you need to learn? Where do you need to stop visiting and where do you need to start frequenting?
Who do you need to thank? Who do you owe an apology? Who do you need to forgive? Who do you need to forget? Literally. Who belongs in your past? Who have you outgrown? Who belongs in your future? Who pushes you to get better?
It is time you schedule time for periodic personal stock taking. This can be the key to opening up a new section of your life.
You are out of school, how is your educational life? What was the last new thing you learned on purpose? How much time do you devote to personal development? What resources and opportunities do you need to take advantage of?
In your relationships, are you the kind of friend that you ought to be? Are you trustworthy and dependable? Can you be confided in? Are the people around you getting the You that they deserve?
In your walk with God, are you listening to His voice? Are you doing His will? Are you living to please Him? Other than when you are in trouble, do you relate with Him? Do you actually know Him?
Are you the best version of yourself? Are you past it? Are you working towards it?
There is the end of the year to look forward to and there is the rest of our lives ahead of us. It’s time to not just exist, it’s time to start living. It is time to start living our best life.
