New Week, New Temptations. (Deputy Girlfriend)
Monday morning, a brand new week. My mind was on all I had to get done this week.
I woke up by 5:30 AM to start my day. If I am to get on the staff bus by 6:15 AM, I dare not be in bed a minute past 5:30 AM.
Within thirty minutes, I was ready for work. I tried to be as quiet as possible. Tomi was still asleep, and I didn’t want to wake her up.
She works at a school nearby, she didn’t have to be there until 7:30, so she still has about an hour of sleep to enjoy.
By the time I got back from work around 8 PM, I met Tomi reading a novel.
Immediately I got in, she welcomed me and asked if she should dish my meal. I was shocked.
I thought home-cooked meals will stop in the new week. My mind was that she had done that to be a good flatmate. It seems I might get to enjoy this for a while.
My only mistake is that I ate before getting home. Since I don’t cook, I always take my meals before I get home. I can’t be bothered about washing dishes.
Thanking Tomi for her offer, I told her I already ate, so she shouldn’t bother.
Tomi went to the kitchen and returned with a plate of hot amala. She had scooped the amala to the side and poured the soup beside it.
There was also a big tail of fish and ponmo in the soup.
As soon as I saw the meal, my mouth started to water. Watching her dig in, cut the first morsel, baptize it in ewedu and stew, then watching it slide into her mouth, I could hear my stomach rumbling.
Quickly, I walked to the bedroom to change my clothes. Why did I eat out again? Why did I tell her I wasn’t going to eat? Who says I can’t eat out, then eat at home again?
But I can’t fold now. This is a new week. It is even the first week of Tomi staying with me. If I tell her to give me out of the food, she would think I’m a parriolodo. A glutton.
I finished changing my clothes, but I was hesitant to come out. The aroma from Tomi’s meal was still wafting in.
Is that iru I smell? Locust beans. I normally do not like it, but this one smells different.
There is no way I am repeating this mistake in this new week. Most likely, never ever.
Tomi is a great cook. If she is cool with cooking, I should be enjoying every meal she prepares. Now I wish I hadn’t made a fuss when she picked those pots at her parent’s place.
