I Tried (Sincerely Yours)
There are a thousand and one things you can accuse me of doing wrongly, but one thing you must concede is that I tried.
I gave it my all, I did all I could, I tried my best, but the card always falls where it wants.
With matters of the heart, most people are reluctant to open up. I was guilty of that too. But once we got going, there was no turning back.
You know there were times it was uncomfortable. Other times it was blurry and made little sense. But the heart wants what the heart wants.
When the tide began to change and you said you wanted different, I was let down.
What is “different”? What do you want done differently? How can I be the “different” you want?
Despite giving it your best thought, you had no answer. Turns out you had no definition for “different”.
With no direction or instruction, once again I tried. I tried to know the type of “different” that would make you happy. I tried to be the kind of different that you needed.
But there is only so much that I can do.
From a dream come true to a nightmare come to life. That is how far my trying has brought me.
I hope you are happy. I hope you find different, or different finds you.
After it all, the heart wants what the heart wants. And my heart wants you.
