Aimasiko – Simi (Song Of The Day)
Aimasiko is a Yoruba word that translates to man’s inability to tell the future. Simi does a great job here on sampling the Ebenezer Obey’s Aimasiko Classic.
Everyone who knows good music globally knows who Fela Anikulapo Kuti is, but the gem that is King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Orlando Owoh, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Oliver De Coque and other Nigerian legends remain largely undiscovered to the outside world.
Often, an I-Too-Know musician picks up a classic and ensure we never love it like we use to anymore. Simi doesn’t do that. She takes a classic and create what can turn out to be another classic from it.
Aimasiko tells of a regular-joe going through a bad phase and starting to lose hope. This is what a lot of Nigerians are currently going through. Career, finance, relationship and other spheres of life easily go awry. Interestingly, just as easily, things could rectify themselves or even get better than they originally were.
There is a God, and he reigns in the affairs of man. What we should always do is put out our best always, keep hope alive, hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. No matter what life throws at you, you give your best possible reaction, then keep praying that God makes it work out favorably for you.
Don’t give up, you never can tell how close you are to your Victory. Aimasiko lo damu eda, ori mi lowo Oluwa lowa.
